PLA Sends 1,500 More Medical Staff to Quake-hit Areas

The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has sent another 50 medical teams comprising of 1500 medical staff to the earthquake-hit areas in southwest China's Sichuan Province.

China's Defense Ministry spokesman said on Wednesday that the medial staff, who come from PLA hospitals from Beijing, Shanghai and Xi'an of northwestern Shaanxi Province, will fly to the disaster-hit areas in succession.

With their arrival, a total of 68 PLA medical teams have arrived in the quake-hit areas.

According to the Defense Ministry, cargo planes of the Chinese air force and planes of civil aviation completed three operations of airdrop on Tuesday, sending more than 11,000 soldiers for disaster relief.
