To fight against climate change, a carbon reduction campaign will start in Hong Kong in May with the support from some 60 local enterprises, according to a press release Xinhua received on Tuesday.
Organized by the Climate Group, an international non-profit green group, the Hong Kong Carbon Reduction Campaign aims to motivate participants to get to know more about climate change and start to minimize consumption on energy and other resources at home and at work.
The campaign will commence on May 1 and run until March 31, 2010. It will involve the participation of 5,000 employees from over 60 corporations, who will maintain a low carbon lifestyle in order to help achieve a combined reduction target of approximately 9,900 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
Founded in Britain in 2004, the Climate Group has been committed to advance climate change solutions and accelerate a low carbon economy. The group started its operations in Hong Kong in 2007.
