A five-day expo featuring energy-saving technologies is underway in Beijing. The China International Energy Saving, Emission Reduction, and New Energy Science and Technology Expo has attracted more than 200 companies and institutions from both home and abroad.
Crowds gather at the expo in the early morning, longing to upgrade technology and find more energy-saving opportunities.
Qin Shengyi, chairman of Renchuang Hi-tech Group, said, "This is a new type of oil exploitation screw bolster. Its special distinction is that it can let oil pass through but prevent water from going through. Using it can improve the output of oil production dramatically and reduce water extraction. Here, I'll show you. As I pour some water, you see the water cannot go through. But oil can go through."
This technology has already been put into use in Daqing Oilfield, which improved output by 15 percent. Exhibitors are showcasing their advanced technology in the 23-thousand square-meter exhibition area.
Wang Bao'an, director of Dept. of Economic Construction, MOF, said, "We are giving fiscal support to the field in two aspects. One is to bolster science and technology development. The other is to provide favorable policies and guidance on new energy development."
The five-day show is co-sponsored by 13 government departments. The Ministry of Finance says China will enhance and support the development and utilization of new energy sources. The expo closes on Monday.
