Summer Davos Ends with Optimism About World Economy

The Summer Davos forum, or the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2009, concluded in northeast China's coastal city of Dalian on Saturday afternoon.
The three-day meeting, with the theme of "to relaunch growth", attracted some 1,400 participants from more than 80 countries and regions.
Participants showed cautious optimism about the world economy. Many agreed the world should strive for a sustained economic growth via such means as the development of green economy and new technologies.
Xia Deren, secretary of the Communist Party of China Dalian Municipal Committee, said at the closing ceremony that the 2009 Summer Davos was a milestone in history.
"It will help boost the confidence of the international community in fighting the ongoing global economic downturn and give a strong push to the world economy's revival," he said.
Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, said at the closing ceremony that the forum was successful and participants conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges.
When and where will the next annual meeting be held was not announced.
