Russia will provide humanitarian aid to Chile after it was hit by a magnitude-8.8 earthquake, the Kremlin said Tuesday.

The president has asked the emergency situations minister to provide humanitarian aid to Chile, a Kremlin spokesperson told reporters.

"Two planes carrying tents, warm clothes, generators, and essentials" will fly to Chile, said the official.

More than 700 people have been killed in Chile after the massive earthquake hit the country on Saturday.
