Needy Tibetans Get Purchase Vouchers from Local Gov't

The low-income people as well as retired staff from state-owned enterprises in the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) will get purchase vouchers from local government for the oncoming Spring Festival as well as the Tibetan New Year.

The value of purchase vouchers for each is 800 yuan, sources from the colloquium of the retired held on January 8.

"The government cares about needy people very much and measures concerned have been put up in recent years," said Pema Tsewang, vice chairman of TAR.

In addition, TAR will establish health archives for urban retired people who enjoy medical insurance and those people will be able to receive physical examination free of charge.

Furthermore, the pension for retired staff from enterprises will increase 200 yuan each since January, 2009.
