330,000 Users Access Map Aid Through Mobile Phones During Beijing Olympics

About 330,000 people used map services through their mobile phones for driving guidance and commuting tips during the Olympic Games, China Mobile, the country's largest mobile service provider, said on Monday.

With map software installed in their handsets, users could find their positions through the Global Positioning System (GPS) service, get real-time traffic information for Beijing and the best ways to reach their destinations.

China Mobile also equipped about 100 logistics vans of the Games' organizing committee and vehicles used by the sailing regatta committee in Qingdao with location surveillance systems.
