Foreign coaches in the Chinese delegation are "significant elements" to help athletes improve their performances during the Olympic Games, said a top Chinese sports official.
Cui Dalin, deputy head of the Chinese delegation, said in a press conference on Sunday afternoon that 38 foreign coaches are credit to the gold-winning Chinese team.
"There are 38 foreign coaches from 16 countries in the Chinese delegation, and they worked over 17 sports disciplines," he said.
"Their advanced training methods and new concepts helped the Chinese athletes improve their performances at the Olympics. They do a lot of good to Chinese sports."
Guided by French coach Christian Bauer, Chinese Zhong Man won the gold medal in men's sabre individual final, the country's second Olympic fencing gold in 24 years.
Chinese men's swimmer Zhang Lin made a breakthrough to win a silver at Olympics. He has been taught by Australian Denis Cotterell since 2007, who was the former coach of Australia's long distance king Grant Hackett.
Meanwhile, China has sent 2,547 coaches to 123 countries and regions since 1957, most of who coached in Chinese strong sports such as table tennis, diving and badminton, noted Cui.
"Chinese coaches working overseas are the non-governmental ambassadors." Cui said.
