Italian women fencers beat their Hungarian rivals 32-23 Saturday to take the bronze medal in the foil team event of the Beijing Olympic Games.
Maria Valentina Vezzali, the 34-year-old foilist who reaped gold in individual competitions, scored 20 points for Italy while Ilaria Salvatori and Marghorita Granbassi made 7 and 5 points respectively.
The Hungarians, with their world ranking higher than the Italians, were apparently not satisfied with the result.
"Our opponents were leading the match and we wanted to reverse it but we didn't succeed," said Mohamed Aida of Hungary. She said it was not a bad result to come fourth at the Olympic Games but they were just "not satisfied."
The final bout was running between Russia and the United States.
