World runner-up Russia on Friday earned their fourth consecutive victory after another comeback win over Brazil, 74-54, in the preliminary round of women's basketball competitions.
Trailing 56-54 to enter the decisive fourth quarter, Russia turned the table around with a 20-8 run to keep a 4-0 record while Brazil were out of contention of the quarterfinals with a 0-4 record.
Tatiana Shchegoleva had 12 points and six rebounds for Russia, which secured the second place in Group A behind the leaders Australia (4-0). The top two teams will meet on Sunday for the last match in the first round.
Adriana Pinto had 19 out of her 21 points in the first three quarters to put Brazil ahead for most of the game. Brazil was beaten on the board by 47-22.
