Second seed Du Jing/Yu Yang from China advanced into the final of the badminton women's doubles in Beijing on Wednesday, beating their compatriots Wei Yili and Zhang Yawen 21-12, 21-19.
Wei and Zhang, No. 3 seeds at the tournament, apparently lost their morale in the second game after yielding the tight first game.
"The result is acceptable," said Wei Yili, who failed to win the bronze medal at the Athens Olympics, while her partner Zhang Yawen burst into tears.
"We are at a similar level to our opponents, but the reason for the victory is that we are better prepared," said 24-year-old Du Jing.
On concerns over her fitness for playing in two events, 22-year-old Yu Yang said it is not a problem for her.
"I will not have any problem with my physical strength, because I only have one match each day," said Yu, who will partner with He Hanbin to secure a berth in mixed doubles semi-finals against a Polish pair.
"I want to get gold in women's and mixed doubles. We are the only Chinese mixed doubles pair, so I must try my best," she said.
