Some competition events at the Beijing Olympic Games scheduled for Sunday have been postponed or rescheduled due to heavy rain, said a spokesperson of the Games on Monday.
Sun Weide, speaking on behalf of the Beijing Organizing Committee of the 29th Olympic Games (BOCOG), said at a press conference that events affected by the poor weather conditions included tennis, archery and rowing.
While some rowing events and 37 tennis matches were rescheduled for Monday, some archery events were delayed but concluded later on Sunday, Sun added.
On Monday, 20 competition events will be staged in 18 Games venues with 13 gold medals to be awarded.
But weather reports also forecast rain for Beijing and some of the co-hosting cities on Monday, said Sun, adding, "We will continue to monitor the weather conditions and adjust accordingly."
He also said that the organizers would try their best to inform the public of the schedule adjustment through the media.
"If the spectators feel inconvenient to watch the games because of the rescheduling, they can ask for a refund of their tickets," he added.
