Mohamed Shaheen, Chef de Mission of Egypt delegation, on Tuesday considered Beijing Olympic Games as the very unique one of those he experienced.
"Beijing Olympics is absolutely unique one," said Shaheen at the flag-raising ceremony in the Olympic Village here. "One of the best that I have ever been. The service is the best. Every athlete in the Egyptian delegation were served well with various foods. All members feel very comfortable in the Olympic Village."
"Though the humidity is higher here, the weather is quite close to what we have in Egypt," said Shaheen. "The weather is no problem for me and the athletes."
Egypt sent a 188-member delegation to Beijing, including 100 athletes. Shaheen thought one gold, one silver and three bronze medals will be acceptable, the same as what Egypt got at the Athens Games.
"But I think we can make historical breakthrough as we have very good athletes in wrestling, boxing, judo and taekwondo."
Egypt made its Olympic debut in 1912. Its greatest triumph was in 1936, when it won five medals, all in weightlifting. After another two weightlifting gold medals at the 1948 London Olympics, Egypt had to wait until Athens to win another gold when Karam Ibrahim ended the drought with his victory in men's 96kg division in Greco-Roman wrestling.
