POA President Expects Bejing Games to Be Best

President of Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) and Chairman of Pakistan Sports Trust Arif Hassan expected the Beijing Games to be one of the best in the Olympic history.

Hassan made the remarks in a written interview with Xinhua on Tuesday. "The Beijing Organizing Committee of the 2008 Olympic Games has done everything extremely well and we are convinced it is going to be one of the best in the Olympic history," said Hassan.

The Pakistani delegation for the Beijing Olympic Games will comprise 21 players and 14 officials, he said.

"Pakistan is only qualified for the men's field hockey and we pin high hope to our hockey team," he said, adding that they can possibly do something in the Beijing Olympic Games.

"We also have some wild card holders who will participate in the Olympic Games but we will not put much pressure on them, " he said.

Hassan said that the Beijing Games would mean something special to the Pakistani players and officials because it would be held in the country of their time-tested friend.

He pointed out that Pakistan and China should do more to promote the cooperation in the sports field. "In the future, we look forward to more exchanges in junior teams," he said. "We also hope China can send some senior excellent players to Pakistan to help us."
