Seminar Held in Bangladesh to Celebrate Olympics

Two Bangladeshi organizations co-held a seminar in Dhaka on Tuesday to celebrate the upcoming Beijing Olympics, and the speakers at the function all wished the great sports event a success.

Organized by Bangladesh Wushu Association (BWUA) and China Cultural, Economics and Mass Communication Center (BCCEMCC), the purpose of the seminar is to promote the awareness of the Bangladeshi people on the Beijing Olympics.

Bangladeshi Parliament Deputy Speaker Akhtar Hamid Siddiqui said at the seminar as a good friend of China, Bangladesh is very proud of China for its hosting Olympics.

Siddiqui hoped the Beijing Olympics would have a successful ending.

Wang Yu, charge d' affairs of Chinese embassy in Bangladesh, briefed the seminar attendants about China's preparation for the Olympics.

Wang said the Chinese government and people are making their best efforts to host the event.

President of BWUA and BCCEMCC F.R. Siddique said he was happy Wushu demonstration will be included in the Beijing Olympics. He hoped one day Chinese traditional Lion Dance will also be included in the Olympics.

Bangladesh Olympic Association Director and Chief Executive Officer Wali Ullah told Xinhua after the seminar Bangladesh will send a 39-member delegation to attend the Beijing Olympics, including VIPs, athletes, coaches and journalists.

Six athletes will participate in shooting, swimming, track and field at the Games.
