Chinese and Brazilian officials celebrated the 60th anniversary of the People's Republic of China (PRC) on Wednesday and Thursday, and repeated their willingness to further strengthen cooperation between the two nations.

Chinese Ambassador to Brazil Qiu Xiaoqi told Xinhua Thursday that at a ceremony on Wednesday night to celebrate the PRC's diamond jubilee, he and Roberto Jaguaribe, Brazilian Deputy Foreign Minister, discussed ways to further reinforce the cooperation between the two countries.

The friendly bilateral ties serve to uphold world peace and guarantee a fair international order, Qiu said.

Representatives of Brazil's government, congressmen, military officials as well as civilians attended the ceremony to celebrate China's red-letter day, he added.

Jaguaribe said the current cooperation between Brazil and China has exceeded the trade level, and has now reached an international level. Brazil and China share many concerns on major international issues, including climate change, the establishment of a multi-polar world, and earning more respect for developing countries.

Brazil and China have also intensified cooperation in scientific and energy areas, including the China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite program (CBERS) and the state-owned Petrobras' exploitation mission for oil reserves under the pre-salt layer, he said.
