Chinese Embassy in Pyongyang Holds National Day Reception

The Chinese embassy in Pyongyang held a grand reception on Tuesday to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Republic of China.

More than 200 guests attended the reception at Pyongyang Yanggakdo International Hotel, including Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Briefing the reception on China's achievements over the past 60years, Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Liu Xiaoming said China's development had not only benefited itself, but also provided opportunity for other countries.

The people of the two countries deeply treasured the China-DPRK friendship, and friendly bilateral cooperation was in the interests of both sides and had contributed to peace and stability of the Korean peninsula as well as northeast Asia, he said.

In his speech at the reception, Choe Chang Sik, minister of Public Health and chairman of the Central Committee of the DPRK-China Friendship Association, said that no matter how the international situation might change, it was the persistent stand of the DPRK to consolidate and develop the traditional DPRK-China friendship.
