The Chinese Mainland's Red Cross Society said Thursday it would provide donations worth 100 million yuan (US$14.6 million) to typhoon-hit Taiwan to help with reconstruction.
The society has also organized rescue teams and medical experts, who are ready to leave for the island if requested, said Guo Changjiang, vice president of the society.
"We are willing to make all-out efforts to provide disaster-relief assistance and help with reconstruction in Taiwan based on its own demands." he said.
A delegation led by Jiang Yiman, the society's executive vice president, has been dispatched to Taiwan Thursday. She is scheduled to pay a visit to southern Taiwan, the worst hit region by typhoon Morakot last month.
So far, the society has raised 21.85 million yuan of donation for the island.
