China Today is China’s only comprehensive monthly that is published in Chinese, English, French, Spanish and Arabic. There are Internet editions of all five magazines, plus one in German. China Today also publishes the Tibetan monthly Potala.
Since its launching in 1952, China Today has maintained an editorial policy of “reflecting people’s life in China’s socialist construction” set by the late Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai, and the tradition of truthful reporting initiated by the late honorary president of the People’s Republic of China, Soong Ching Ling (Mme Sun Yat-sen). Over the years, it has served as a communication bridge between China and the rest of the world.
The readership of the foreign-language editions of China Today includes researchers and workers from overseas political, economic, cultural and social circles, as well as foreigners that come to China to work, study and travel. The Chinese edition is popular among compatriots in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao and overseas Chinese.
