Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah, a former Middle East rally champion, led Qatar to win the men's team skeet of the Asian Games shooting tournament here on Wednesday while the men's individual gold medal went to Kuwait.

The Qatari team, also including Masoud Hamad and Abdulaziz Al Atiaya, claimed the team title with a total score of 353 points, beating Kuwait and China, both on 345 points, to the silver and bronze positions.

"This is especially good for me because I am a professional rally driver most of the time and only spend half my time shooting," said Al Attiyah.

In last year's Dakar Rally, Al Attiyah was on the verge of a victory before being disqualified for a technical infringement.

The men's individual skeet crown was bagged by Kuwait's Abdullah Alrashidi with 144 hits, while Al Alattiya was the third on 140 trailing teammate Masoud Saleh Hamad with a two-hit deficit.

The three Gulf shooters finished in the leading places of a four-man group, as South Korea's Cho Yong-Seong missed out in a shoot-out against Saif Khalifa of the United Arab Emirates for a place in the pool.
