China's divers dominated the Asian Games by winning two gold medals offered in the women's 3m synchronized springboard and men's 10m synchro platform here on Monday.
On the first day of diving competition, Shi Tingmao/Wang Han snatched women's 3m synchro springboard with 315.6 points. Malaysia's Leong MunYee/NG Yan Yee came to second in 279.90, beating Japan's Mai Nakagawa/Sayaka Shibusawa in 277.50.
The 19-year-old Wang revealed, Shi and she just partnered for one month before the Asian Games. "We started to train together at the end of last month. We are still lacking of synchronization. I'm not satisfied with my performance since I've made mistakes in the last three free routines."
In the men's 10m synchro platform, Zhou Lu Xin/Yang Liguang scored 9 perfect marks 10 and produced a day-high 103.68 for their last dive 5255B(back 2 1/2 somersault 2 1/2 twist). They claimed the gold in 486.57.
Malaysia's Bryan Nickson Lomas/Ooi Tze Liang and DPR Korea's Kim Choh Man/So Myong Hyok placed second and third.
It was the first Asian Games title for the 22-year-old Zhou though he was the 2006 World Cup platform winner and runner up at Beijing Olympic Games.
"It was a pity that I did not win the gold in many big events. Fortunately, I take the chance this time and leave no regret at all," Zhou said.
The 23-year-old DPR Korean Kim said their goal was to win the Asian crown. "However, we had some physical problems since the early October, we had to change our target," Kim said.
China's Olympic champion Chen Ruolin will team up Wang Hao in the women's 10m synchro platform and Qin Kai/Luo Yutong will compete in the men's 3m synchro springboard on Nov. 23.
