"My baby and I brought home the gold medals together," said Gim Yunmi of South Korea. "The baby kept me calm and relaxed."
Pregnant for eight months, Gim collected two Guangzhou Asiad shooting titles by winning both women's 10m air pistol team and individual event on Sunday.
One month before the Games, she was only able to train for 75 minutes a day.
"I had been worried about the baby," said Gim. "I thought that may become a burden for the team. Anyway, the result is perfect!"
It was Gim's first and second international shooting title.
Gim was also a 25m pistol shooter, but she decided to drop the event because of the baby. "The only thing I want to do now is to go home," said Gim.
Gim's Asiad trip kicked off perfectly when she led the South Korean team to win women's 10m air pistol team event with 1,141 points. After that, she bridged two-point gap to surpass local star Sun Qi to claim her second gold with 483.3 points.
Indian and China got silver and bronze respectively from the team event, while Sun Qi of China and Jo Yong Suk of DPR Korea became medalists from the individual event.
