Merkel, Medvedev Talk on Efforts to Revive World Economy

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has met Russian President Medvedev for talks on efforts to revive the world economy and prevent future financial crises.

Both Merkel and Medvedev say that they want to see concrete conclusions on financial market reform.

Angela Merkel, German Chancellor, said, "With regards to the G20 summit, we are travelling to London with similar expectations and positions. It is necessary that it become very, very clear that the world's financial market architecture will be changed in such a way that such crises are not repeated."

Dmitry Medvedev, Russian President, said, "The declaration which we have come to be acquainted with through various circumstances of course creates a defined vector of development. But our feeling is that the most important things is not that some declarations or other is signed, but that based on the results of this meeting, serious events are held, forums and conferences at which the outlines of the future world financial system are discussed."
