Sunday marked the first Mother's Day since the devastating Sichuan earthquake last May. After the quake, some mothers had to send their children away to other provinces in China to study. But on Sunday, they were able to reunite through video phone.
After the earthquake, more than 20 students from Wenchuan Sangping Middle School were transferred to Guangdong to continue their education. About one year later, a video phone meeting between the mothers and children was arranged.
A mother from Wenchuan said, "Stop crying. Mom is so happy to see you today. The new school is about to be built in a couple of months. Then you can come back to study."
Both the mothers and children who share the same feeling, spent a happy day together.
In quake-hit Longnan city in Gansu province, a dining hall has been opened to make sure the students who board at the school eat well. Love and Concern office of Shenzhen city provides the financial support.
In Anhui and Liaoning provinces, many donation activities are arranged to collect money for mothers in quake-hit area.
And residents in coastal city of Dalian showed their love for both mothers and children in Sichuan. Many of them spend 100 yuan to purchase a care-package and send it to Sichuan.
A Dalian resident said, "I saw this activity from outside of the door. I think it's good because we all need to be involved, so I'm here."
The policewomen of Jilin province used the Internet to deliver their love to children who lost their moms in the quake. They also write a blog to memorialize those mothers.
