First Green Highway in Anhui Begins Trial Run

The first green highway in east China's Anhui Province started its trial run recently.

The ecological highway, with a total investment of over 5 billion yuan, connects Tongling and Huangshan city in the province, running across famous scenic attractions like Mount Huang and Mount Jiuhuan.

In order to make the highway ecologically friendly, the highway mainly runs through tunnels and an non-pier arch bridge across the river it passes, just to keep the water system within the scenic areas along the highway unpolluted. The roadside areas are also protected through careful ecological maintenance.

According to figures, greenery covers 99 percent of the area along the highway.
