Students from Quake-hit Region to Recuperate in Russia's Kemerovo

One hundred students from China's quake-hit province of Sichuan will pay a visit to Russia's Kemerovo region for rehabilitation, the regional press service said Saturday.

These students are expected to arrive at a summer camp for youths on July 17 at the invitation of the regional governor, and will stay there for three weeks.

The camp will provide interpreters and Chinese meals to them. Medical experts and psychologists will be assigned to ensure the best treatment.

An earthquake measuring 8.0 on the Richter scale hit the southwestern province on May 12, leaving 69,130 people dead as of Saturday.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev extended his invitation of a group of students from the quake-stricken region to Russia for rehabilitation during his first visit to Beijing last month after taking office on May 7.
