China on Friday donated US$200, 000 to two UN trust funds to support the world body's efforts on international affairs.

Wang Min, China's deputy permanent representative to the UN, presented a 200,000-dollar check to B. Lynn Pascoe, the Under- Secretary-General of the United Nations for Political Affairs at the UN headquarters in New York.

The donation goes to the Trust Fund for Preventive Action and the Trust Fund in Support of Political Affairs, 100,000 dollars for each.

China supports solving disputes through dialogue and negotiation in a peaceful way, said Wang, adding that the United Nations plays an important role on preventative diplomacy and political mediation.

China hopes the UN Secretariat will make full use of the above- mentioned trust funds, conducting mediation and improving related mechanisms in a bid to contribute more to world peace and security, Wang said.

Pascoe expressed appreciation to China's support to the UN preventive diplomacy and the work of the UN Department of Political Affairs.

He said the department is satisfied with its cooperation with China and promised the UN Secretariat will make sure to properly use the donation.
