China Levies Resource Tax in Xinjiang

China Tuesday started to levy 5 percent of resource tax on sales of crude oil and natural gas in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Ministry of Finance said Wednesday.
The move, taken to raise revenue for the resource-rich Xinjiang, marks a crucial step to save the use of natural resources via higher consumption cost.
