Vice Premier Meets WB Chief Economist

Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang on Tuesday met with World Bank Chief Economist and Senior Vice President Justin Yifu Lin.

They exchanged views on the global economy, according to a press release issued by Li's office, without releasing more details of their discussion.

Lin, 57, took up his World Bank position in June 2008, after serving for 15 years as professor and founding director of the China Center for Economic Research at Peking University.

Lin is the World Bank's first chief economist from a developing country. The chief economist guides the Bank's intellectual leadership and plays a key role in shaping the research agenda of the institute.
