The extended line of subway No.2 / No.8 in Guangzhou, the capital city of Guangdong Province, is expected to begin test-running before the Asian Games in 2010.

Subway line No.2 / No.8 will connect four traffic hubs: Baiyun International Airport, Guangzhou Railway Station, Gongyuanqian Station and Guangzhou New Railway Station.

Citizens can transfer to line No.3 to reach Baiyun International Airport, or take the high-speed railway to major cities around the country from the Guangzhou New Railway Station, according to Monday's edition of China News Agency.

The passenger flow of the Guangzhou subway system is expected to surpass 4 million people every day once the new subway lines open to traffic next year.

Subway lines No.5 and No.4 (from Wanshengwei to Cheponan) are scheduled to open by the end of this year.

Lines No.3 and No.4 will be completed by 2010, as well as the first-stage of the Guangzhou-Foshan line and the Zhujiangxincheng Passenger Automatic Transportation System.
