Macao Chief to Seek Regional Cooperation in Mainland

The Chief Executive of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Ho Hau Wah will leave for Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the Chinese mainland on Tuesday to attend a forum on regional cooperation there, according to a press statement on Monday released by the SAR's Information Bureau.
The Fifth Pan-Pearl River Delta (PPRD) Regional Co-operation and Development Forum, which also comprises an economic and trade co-operation fair, will be held from June 9 to 11 in Nanning, capital of Guangxi. Ho will attend the opening ceremony on the evening of Tuesday, and he will also deliver a keynote speech and attend several investment contracts signing ceremonies the following day.
The SAR's Secretary for Economy and Finance Tam Pak Yuen and a number of officials will also accompany Ho to attend the forum.
The PPRD forum was established by governments of mainland provinces, including Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, and Hong Kong and Macao SARs. The first forum was co-organized by Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong in 2004.
The Secretary for Administration and Justice, Florinda Chan, will be Acting Chief Executive while Ho is away, according to the press statement.
