China's economic planner Tuesday called on the Chinese people to give advice and suggestions for the drawing up of the 12th Five-Year (2011-2015) Plan for National Economic and Social Development.

"To fully reflect the will of the people in the 12th Five-Year Plan, advice and suggestions from all Chinese people are welcome over the following two months," Zhang Ping, director of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), said at a press conference in Beijing.

Individuals can make comments through SMS text message, postings on designated websites and through various NDRC surveys, said Xu Xianping, deputy director of the economic planning body.

In the Plan, there will be concrete targets for economic growth, economic restructuring, consumer prices, people's living standards, environmental protection and low-carbon development, said Zhang.

"In setting these targets, the concept of scientific development and the acceleration of the transformation of the economic development pattern will be highlighted," Zhang said, adding that "improving people's living standards and ensuring equal access to basic public services will also be priorities."
