OECD Head: China's Stimulus Plan to Contribute to World Economy

China's stimulus plan will contribute to the world economy, said Jose Angel Gurria Trevino, secretary-general of the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), who will attend the China Development Forum that starts on Saturday in Beijing.
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has noted recently that China called for international cooperation and opposed trade protectionism.
It is completely correct that the Chinese government objected to protectionism in trade and capital flows, said Gurria in an interview with Xinhua.
According to Gurria, opening up domestic and international markets could promote trade competition and create wealth, and it is also a prerequisite for economic recovery and long-term development.
It is a good example that China's policy of opening-up and merging into global economy have boosted its economic development and reduced poverty considerably, said the OECD leader.
Promoting the international cooperation in the economic sector is one of the OECD's main responsibilities, Gurria said. He noted that it was necessary for China to fully engage in economic decision-making on a global scale.
"I strongly agree that every country contributes to the world economy by stimulating its economy", said Gurria. China has unveiled the largest economic stimulus plan in the world and will boost the manufacture markets in other countries by maintaining its economic development in a stable and healthy way, he said.
By maintaining liberalization of capital movement with the OECD and other cooperative partners, China's overseas direct investment could play a role in global economy recovery and domestic economic development, Gurria added.
The OECD hopes China can enhance its cooperation with the organization, he said.
