China Slightly Increases US Debt Holding in July

China, the largest holder of US Treasury debt, slightly added its holdings in July, said the US Department of Treasury on Thursday.

China's holdings of Treasury securities rose to US$846.7 billion in July, an increase of 0.36 percent from June, according to the latest Treasury International Capital data.

China, the biggest holder of US Treasury securities, trimmed its holdings by US$24 billion to US$843.7 billion in June, the second consecutive month of decline.

Japan, the second largest holder of US Treasury securities, increased its holdings to US$821 billion in July from US$803.6 billion in June.

Net foreign acquisition of long-term US securities is estimated to reach US$44 billion in July.
