Chief of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Wednesday called on major global economies to show more unity in fighting the economic crisis, overcoming differences in such areas as financial regulation.
There is the possibility that the will for cooperation expressed by major economies during the economic crisis may fade with the recovery of global economy, IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn said before the European Parliament.
While the recovery of many economies are still fragile and imbalanced, there is need for continued cooperation, the IMF chief stressed.
"Working together we can lay the groundwork for stronger and more stable growth," Strauss-Kahn said.
According to the latest forecasts of the IMF, the world economy will grow by 4 percent in 2010, but the growth of most advanced economies, such as the European Union and the US, will remain sluggish and lag far behind of emerging economies.
