Canada will host the G20 summit on June 26-27, 2010 in its biggest city Toronto, Prime Minister Stephen Harper confirmed on Monday.

Days before that, Canada will host the G8 summit in the small city of Huntsville in central Ontario Province, about 200 kilometers north of Toronto.

Canada has planned to host the G20 summit in Huntsville too, but officials say the huge hotel demand and challenging security tasks are beyond the city's abilities.

Hosting a G20 summit implies finding at least 10,000 hotel rooms and providing air-tight security for more than 30 international delegations. Huntsville has 1,000 rooms at most, officials say.

The G20 summit will be attended by leaders from developed countries as well as China, India and other emerging markets, to discuss global economic situation while the world gradually climbs out of the recession.

Harper made the announcement on Monday while visiting Seoul, the Republic of Korea, which will host another G20 summit in November 2010.
