New South Wales (NSW) Premier Nathan Rees revealed on Monday that Sydney will host the Forbes Global CEO Conference in September next year.

This is the second time Sydney has been chosen to host the event, which will be attended by about 450 chief executives from prominent companies in Asia, Europe, the United States and Australia.

"Securing the conference again is a big coup for NSW and will go a long way in showcasing Sydney as Australia's premier business district as well as the country's best tourist destination," Rees said in a statement.

Chief executives attending the conference collectively employed 2.3 million people worldwide and controlled an annual turnover of 985 billion Australian dollars (US$903 billion), Rees said.

The conference has been running for 10 years and was last staged in Sydney in 2005.
