New Zealand Govt's Recession Plan Draws Strong Public Backing

The New Zealand public have shown strong public support for the way the government was managing the recession, showed a survey released on Tuesday.
A Research New Zealand survey showed 61 percent of those questioned agreed, or strongly agreed, that the government was taking the right steps.
Only 15 percent disagreed, or strongly disagreed, with the steps it was taking. The rest did not have an opinion.
However, the poll also showed that 21 percent were not confident that their jobs were secure in the economic downturn.
It showed 76 percent thought their jobs were secure and the rest did not know.
The Research New Zealand poll questioned 502 people and had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.7 percent.
