Premier Stresses Confidence in Coping with Financial Crisis

Confidence is the source of power to overcome difficulties in coping with the current global financial crisis, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said on Saturday.

Wen told a press conference of the seventh Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) which concluded on Saturday that to strengthen confidence is one of the three things "we can do to tackle the crisis".

"All the countries, especially developed ones, should take measures as quickly as possible to stabilize the financial market and make the public to build confidence," Wen said.

The measures taken by many countries have already taken elementary effect, however, further efforts are still needed, he said.

"The first important information this meeting delivers is that we should strengthen confidence," he said.

The press conference was attended by leaders of this ASEM's four coordinators, including China, European Commission, Brunei and France.
