Industrial Production -- August 2006

In August the value-added of industrial enterprises above designated size (from all the state-owned industrial enterprises, and non state-owned ones with annual sales revenue over 5 million yuan) reached 735.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 15.7%. The proportion of industrial products sold was 98.74%, up by 0.67 percentage point over the same period of last year. The consignment export value of the industrial enterprises reached 505.3 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 23.9%.

Among major industrial branches, the production of textile rose 13.7%, that of the chemical materials and chemical products went up 18.3%, that of non-metallic mineral products industry climbed 23.1%, that of the smelting and pressing of ferrous metals went up 17.2%, that of general equipment manufacturing rose 23.7%, that of transportation equipment manufacturing was up 17.4%, that of electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing rose 14.8%, that of the communications equipment, computer and other electronic equipment manufacturing increased 19.8%, the production and supply of electricity and heat was up 14.5%.

Among major production, the outputs of raw coal was 0.174 billion ton, a year-on-year rise of 10.3%, that of crude oil was 15.54 million ton, keeping the same level with the same month of last year, and that of electricity generated was 257.1 billion kilowatt-hour, a year-on-year rise of 16.4%; those of iron, crude steel and steel products were 34.78 million ton, 36.7 million ton and 38.97 million ton, a year-on-year rise of 20.8%, 17% and 16.6% respectively; that of cement was 0.11 billion ton, up 21.3%; that of automobile was 534 thousand, up 13.3%, especially, and that of car was 295 thousand, up 17.1%.

Added up from January to August, the value-added of industrial enterprises above designated size reached 5435.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 17.3%.
