Industrial Production -- May 2006

In May the value-added of industrial enterprises above designated size (from all the state-owned industrial enterprises, and non state-owned ones with annual sales revenue over 5 million yuan) reached 706 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 17.9%. The proportion of industrial products sold was 97.75%, up  by 0.22 percentage point over the same period of last year. The consignment export value of the industrial enterprises reached 475.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 23.0%.

Among major industrial branches, the production of textile rose 15.8%, that of the chemical materials and chemical products went up 21.8%, that of non-metallic mineral products industry climbed 20.2%, that of the smelting and pressing of ferrous metals went up 18.9%, that of general equipment manufacturing rose 21.5%, that of transportation equipment manufacturing was up 27.7%, that of electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing rose 13.1%, that of the communications equipment, computer and other electronic equipment manufacturing increased 22.9%, the production and supply of electricity and heat was up 11.1%.

Among major production, the outputs of raw coal, crude oil and electricity generated were 0.173 billion ton, 15.72 million ton and 217.5 billion kilowatt-hour respectively, a year-on-year rise of 12.9%, 2.5% and 12.5% respectively; those of iron, crude steel and steel products were 35.33 million ton, 35.93 million ton and 40.23 million ton, a year-on-year rise of23.0%, 19.6% and 27.1% respectively; that of cement was 0.109 billion ton, up 17.1%; that of automobile was 620 thousand, up 28.4%, especially, and that of car was 330 thousand, up 51.7%.

Added up from January to May, the value-added of industrial enterprises above designated size reached 3174.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 17.0%.
