Food poisoning sickened 70 students at a primary school in south China' s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, public security bureau spokesman said Thursday.
The students suffered from fever, headaches and stomach aches Wednesday as well as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, after they had a meal at Yingcai Primary School in Yulin City, said Qin Yongjun, a spokesman with the autonomous regional public security bureau.
Some students remained in hospital on Thursday noon, though their symptoms were described as not being life-threatening.
An initial investigation by a local disease control center pointed towards unsanitary or spoiled food as being the cause of the students' sickness.
The public security bureau is also investigating the case with law enforcement authorities.
