Recent floods, landslides and heavy rains in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region mark the beginning of China's flood season, and there are over 100,000 sites that are especially dangerous during this period, the People's Daily reported Friday.

Statistics from the Ministry of Land and Resources show that there were 4,175 cases of geological disasters in China from January to May this year, of which 3,389 happened in May. The death toll of these disasters rose to 131.

Experts warned that because of the global climate change, disasters are expected to happen all round the year, and June will be the peak time.
