4 Killed in Fireworks Factory Blast in Shandong

Four people died and six were injured Wednesday when a fireworks plant in east China's Shandong Province exploded, local authorities said.

The blast happened at 11:20 AM at a fireworks plant owned by Dachang Village, Xueye Town, Laiwu City, said Liu Guangyuan, deputy head of the publicity department of the Laiwu municipal committee of the Communist Party of China.

The four people died at the scene while the injured were taken to Laiwu City People's Hospital, Liu said.

Police are investigating the accident.
