Rescuers Tuesday recovered the bodies of the last two miners missing after a colliery flooded last week, bringing the death toll from the accident to four.

Rescuers retrieved the two bodies at about 1:00 PM from a pit run by the Lingshi Coal Mine Co., Ltd. in Lingshi County, Shanxi Province, according to the headquarters of the rescue operation.

The flooding occurred at about 4:30 PM Friday in the shaft where six miners were working. Two managed to escape.

An investigation team comprising officers with the local public security and work safety supervision authorities had been established.

It has been undergoing upgrading work since August of last year to raise its annual production capacity to 900,000 tonnes.
