Rescue Launched for 7 Trapped Miners

Rescuers are attempting to find seven workers trapped underground after a coal mine was flooded Thursday in northeast China.

The flooding occurred at around 3:30 PM at the privately-owned Guoming mine, in Baoqing county, Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, a city official said Friday.

The circumstances of the trapped workers were unknown, said the official.

Work safety officials were investigating the cause of the accident.
