An exhibition of more than 100 photos of Hong Kong's unique heritage buildings and scenes in the 1970s and 1980s will be shown at the Central Police Station Compound next week, as an effort to boost public awareness on heritage conservation and revitalization, the organizer said on Saturday.

"Faces and Places: Heritage Photo Exhibition" is organized by the Commissioner for Heritage's Office and the Royal Asiatic Society (Hong Kong branch).

The photos were taken during surveys covering Hong Kong's Western District and the Mid-Levels in the 1970s and Wan Chai in the 1980s, capturing a built environment and way of life that have passed into memory.

"The photos shown at the exhibition were chosen to highlight the important features, the people, buildings, streets, customs and trades," Commissioner for Heritage Jack Chan said.

The photos will be showcased at the Central Police Station Compound from September 12 to October 14, and at Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Center between October 17 and November 11.
