A draft declaration discussed at the Arab-South American foreign ministers meeting held on Wednesday welcomed the outcome of the international donors' conference on the reconstruction of Gaza Strip, local MENA news agency reported.
The draft "welcomes the outcome of the donors' conference held on Monday in Sharm el-Sheikh which mainly meant to provide necessary funds for revitalizing the Palestinian economy and resuming international aid supplies for the Palestinian Authority and people," according to MENA's report.
The Arab and South American foreign ministers met in the day to prepare the draft declaration for the upcoming Arab-South American summit scheduled for March 31 in the Qatari capital of Doha.
The draft condemns the 22-day Israeli military offensive in Gaza, which ended on January 18 and killed more than 1,300 Palestinians and destroyed thousands of houses, according to the report.
It "highly appreciates the strenuous efforts exerted by Egypt to cement a ceasefire in the war-ravaged Gaza Strip and to bring about Palestinian reconciliation," the report said.
The draft touched upon Iraq, voicing support for UN and Arab League efforts in securing stability and reconciliation in Iraq and urging for international assistance for Iraq's reconstruction following the US-led invasion in 2003.
Arab League chief Amr Moussa has met with the South American foreign ministers on the sidelines of the meeting, during which he welcomed several Latin American countries' stands on the recent Israeli war on Gaza.
The first Arab-South American summit was hosted in the Brazilian capital of Brasilia in May 2005.
