Clinton Calls for Durable Ceasefire in Gaza

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Monday called for all parties concerned to work for reaching a durable ceasefire in the Palestinian territory of the Gaza Strip.
All sides concerned should work to "move toward a durable ceasefire (in Gaza)," Clinton told a press conference after attending an international conference for rebuilding Gaza held at the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday.
Clinton, who is in her first visit to the Middle East after taking office, also expressed concern over the rocket attacks against Israel by Palestinian militants.
"I am troubled by the continuing rocket attacks coming out of Gaza," Clinton said.
A fragile ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian groups in Gaza took effect on January 18 which ended a 22-day Israeli military operation against the Palestinian enclave. But sporadic conflicts still erupted from time to time.
Clinton, who arrived in the Egyptian Red Sea resort late Sunday to attend the international conference, will also visit Israel and meet with Palestinian leaders in the West Bank for talks on Middle East peace.
