The second batch of humanitarian aid from Chile arrived on Tuesday in Jordan and will be sent to Gaza soon, according to local media reports.

"We are providing the aid to people who suffered the (Israeli) raids in Gaza," Jose Miguel de la Cruz, the Chilean ambassador to Palestine, said while delivering the relief material to the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization.

The aid, carried by a Chilean air force plane, includes 25 tons of medicines, powder milk, hospital equipment, blankets, sheets and household tools for Palestinians who have suffered huge casualties and property loss in the 22-day Israeli offensive against Hamas militants in Gaza last December and January.

Chile sent its first batch of humanitarian aid to Gaza in late January. The government said last week it was considering dispatching a medical team to the area, as requested by the Palestinian authorities.

Chile has the biggest Palestinian community outside the Middle East, with some 300,000 Palestinians living in the country.

Some 1,400 Palestinians were killed and more than 5,500 others injured during the Israeli raids.
